Ganageetham
...........................

Namaste Sadaa Vatsale Matru Bhoome
Twayaa Hindu Bhoome Sukham Vardhitoham
Mahaa Mangale Punya Bhoome Twadarthe
Patatwesha Kaayo Namaste Namaste

Forever I bow to thee, O Loving Motherland! O Motherland Hindubhumi, Thou hast brought me up in happiness and prosperity.

May my life, O great and blessed Holy Land, be laid down in Thy Cause. I bow to Thee again and again.

These are the first lines of the Sangh Prarthana.  The immeasurable depth of 'deshprem' is eloquently manifested in these lines.

Sangh starts every programme with this prayer. Every word uttered is filled with love for Bharat Mata. The tiniest unit of RSS is a sakha and swayamsevaks get together at Sanghsthan, the place were sakha takes place. A moderate piece of land, mostly a private land where sakha takes place is called Sanghsthan. Sakha ends with the recital of the above prayer song, with ganageethams sung intermittently between lectures, physical exercises and highly enlightening interactive sessions. The most spectacular thing about a sakha is that this the most socialist and secular get-together one can ever be part of.

Sanghsthan is arguably  the birth place of many a glorious song in praise of this motherland. These songs are called Ganageethams as they are sung as a group. Gana is group and geetham is song. RSS holds these songs very close to its heart. These songs are filled with patriotism of the highest degree. Swayam sevaks who keep the nation above everything else  obviously love to sing the glory of the nation in the most colourful ways. Not even a single Sangh function ends without singing several ganageethams. In fact, these are not just ganageethams, but  hridayageethams of the blessed births of this great nation.

Patriotism and love  are abundantly blended in every geetham and are emanated from the deep hearts. Unmatched dedication to the Hindubhimi by every swayamsevak and his/her gratitude for getting a chance to be born here are expressed in these patriotic songs. Forever, as long as the sun shines, these hridayageethams will reverberate across the country, with swayamsevaks asserting to stand by the motherland in every crisis.

There are several such songs compiled and published under the title Gananjali. Each geetham is like a beautiful flower.  Swayam sevaks dedicate these flowers at the feet of Bharat Mata with utmost devotion.

Origin of ganageethams or their authors are unknown. Perhaps like folklores, these hridayageethams too have no authors. Also, swayamsevaks never like to take credit of any seva rendered. Several patriotic ganageethams in almost all Indian languages are available now on internet, especially on Sangh affiliated portals. The 'Swayamsevak' app for example, has a section named Gananjali where a number of ganageethams in Malayalam and Hindi are available

Ganageetham has always been a source of inspiration for the swayam sevaks. For them, when the hearts throb for Bharath Mata, the lips sync with them to sing her glory. May there be louder chorus to sing paeans for this 'punya bhumi' . May each line of the songs infuse more patriotism and fighting spirit in the veins of the beloved children of Bharat Mata.
